Windee's (Peewee) Time

Our little beagle named Windee is cunning
Each day to the woods she goes running
Her nose has a feature
To smell out a creature
But we do not go hunting a gunning

"Hunting a gunning?" Is that a typo? I like the poem, but the last line was a little awkward.

I agree with Tag. I don't get the last line. But the rest was cute. Keep them coming.

If one goes hunting it is usually with a gun, right? It is the rhyming way of saying we don't reinforce Windee's love of hunting by accompanying her with a gun to shoot those creatures she finds. Gee, guys, use your limerick imagination. :)

I being the redneck of the family knew exactly what you meant. Oh well what can I say!!!!!!!

I, though not necessarily a redneck, knew what she meant also! Them two college ejumacated folks is SLOW!

Alex loves the limerick quiz on NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me," so when I read your limericks to him, I let him guess the last word. Actually, I didn't think to do it when I read him his poem, but when I read the rest, I did it. He got dad's the easiest, needed a little prompting to get Cadie's, but didn't get Windee's. When I read him the line, he scrunched up his face and said he didn't get it! Too ejumacated, I guess! Too much a that thar book larnin'.
